My heart is filled to the brim with love! This week was spent in preparation for Juan and Isabel’s Baptism! We finished up their lessons, had their baptismal interviews, and got all the technical details for the actual baptismal program set. We washed and filled the font on friday afternoon and set up chairs and so forth. We were at the stake center from 3:30 until 8:30! But wow was it a good day!
The Ward is so good to us and we have felt such love and support from the members. The Relief Society room was packed for their baptism, including Juan and Isabel’s family. Sister Runs Through and I sang our ukulele version of "When I am Baptized".
It has been amazing to see the change and confidence in Juan and Isabel over these past few months of teaching them. They have been prepared by the Lord to receive this gospel, and it was such an amazing experience to watch them with full purpose of heart 'follow their Lord and Savior down into the water!' (2 Nephi 31:13)
Our bishop wanted us to speak during the intermission, while they changed out of their wet clothes after the actual baptism. Sister Runs Through and I decided we would both take a turn to share our testimonies. I was pretty nervous about speaking in front of so many people, of specially because I didn't have any notes or script. I had decided before hand that I would talk about the Book of Mormon, but that was the only direction I had going into it. It was an amazing experience though because the spirit was so strong and I felt completely lead in my words to be bold and address the needs of all those sitting in the audience. I feel to blessed to be worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I feel so lucky to be a missionary!
Then on Sunday Juan and Isabel had the opportunity to be confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The blessings they were given perfectly encaptured what our bishop felt inspired to share at the end of their baptism.
Bishop shared the scripture Abraham 3:22-23, which is one of the only scriptures I had memorized before my mission (thanks Vanguard Youth!) Anyway the scripture reads;
"22 Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones;
23 And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast chosen before thou wast born."
Juan and Isabel truly are choice spirits and I know that they are going to be amazing members who will truly strive to keep their covenants to lift and serve others. I can't wait to come back in a year to witness their temple sealing❤️
I love you all and I truly love this gospel! No matter what you are going through help and healing are found in Jesus Christ.
Have a wonderful week!
Sister Peterson :)
